"Prairie Winds"

This is a slow, orchestral, dramatic piece of work. Not much to say, I might be making changes to the latter section. Enjoy. :D

And here's a score. It's a very rough score, taken straight out of a sequencer, a few measures are problematic. But generally it's alright:

This is great work. Great theme, great sense of the different instruments interpretation of the theme! It works very well. I love the dynamics in the violins when the first climax appears!

Second climax (2 semi-tone modulation) is maybe a bit cheesy, but hey! That works for film, and it surely does the job fine!

Is it on purpose that you did not include any dynamic-markings in the score? (although the orchestra plays them! :D )

I use Cakewalk Sonar, and the sample library is Vienna Symphonic Library.

I left them out because I was lazy to go through and add them in.

It seems pretty obvious. Yes. I agree, too. I rushed the latter 1 minute or so just wanting to get it done. So the dynamics and instrumentation was pretty horrible there.

Awesome, sounds cinematic. Imo the crescendo at around 1/3 through the piece is a bit sudden, but you could be looking for that effect. <-The only useful thing I can think of to comment :) This is pretty much up to the industrial standards.

And please tell me that's a real recording. If not, what the hell of a program did you use?

Hey there! Nice piece for a film! It's like I'm watching a movie with the scene of a very grand ending... The piano in the middle is very predictable, as in a lot of other film's music out there... :)

Although the theme is good enough, but I have to say that the very high quality of the samples (it just sounds like the real orchestra thing) you used definitely add a lot of points to it. This is going straight away to my BTB (Best of The Best) music library~

PS: one question, do you study music as your major? And are you going to be a film composer in the future? (That'll be cool to see your name in one of the movie I watch in the future :))

No I'm not a music major. I'm an engineering major. And I don't think my chances of being a film composer in the future is in anyway viable. I would definitely love a job offer though. :)

I think you described very well, through your music, the title of this work. I can close my eyes an imagine these Prairie Winds.

The orchestration is well balanced. I particularly liked the section (about 02:00) when the piano takes the main role and plays the theme.
