Piano Rhapsody No. 1

Featured Replies

I have about 30 seconds of a piece I've been working on. I am not much of a composer and I try to write what I can. I understand this piece is probably impossible to play but are there any good qualities to what I have written or is it not worth even continuing? I won't feel bad if you tell me no... I understand.

There ya go, Peter! Isn't it fun to just go wild and write something crazy sometimes!! I hope it was fun to do. I actually don't think this would be impossible to play - just maybe the notes could be divided more evenly between the right and left hand at some points to make it more manageable for the pianist, that's all.

I think that with some work you could take this and develop it into something really cool. This is exactly the type of ideas I often start off with when writing a piece, and then I tame the wild beast, you could say. I think that if you really wanted, you could make this into a cool piece. Honestly.

[ps. if you decide to dump this idea in the trash forever at some point, let me know, I'd be interested in fooling with it if you decide you hate it, hee hee! I'd give you credit where credit is due, of course...]

Thank you very much for you comments Giselle!

AT LAST ! OH GOD HERES AT LAST SOMETHIN FOR MY TASTE ON THIS FORUM !!!

Mr Grimes, you made me a happy man tonight, keep writing this music I will be more than interested to listen the progress.

I love to go crazy. Just to pund out notes on the piano. They say some of the most ugly or mis-understood music is the most emotional. Im not saying yours is ugle......dont get me wrong.....I just think it sounds crazy. Some of the notes in separate hands should be coordinated a little better just for performance perfection sake. If you have 32nd rests then it is very seldom that a pianist may get it right.......amatuer or professional. Just finish the song. If you like then it doesnt matter what anyone else thinks. A lot of composers works when first premiered were failures. Take Bizet's Carmen for example. When it was premiered everyone hated it but nowadays it is an immortal opera that never stops being performed. Hope this helped.
