Ballade

Featured Replies

Anyway, the title says it all. This piece starts out mega super ultra slow and easy, but then it takes off. It's nice sounding, kinda romantic era. Then moves to classical. It's not finished. I'm going to let you, that's right, you! decide if i should develop it into major works material! If not, I'll finish it for this topic thing.

Anyway, rate it on a scale of 1 to 10, and tell me any critiques.

I want to stress that playability is not an issue.

Many thanks from:

P.S. about 3'49" right now.

can you tell me some of the bad parts?

There are a couple of places where the harmony sounds harsh and out of place, this could just be the midi.

After a nother couple of listens I can hear the flow of your piece better, and actually like it more now than I did at first.

I absoloutely love the part at mes.64-74

Not a fan of the modulation at 76-79, Just a personal taste.

Anyway, just please keep it going i really like this.

Hehe, rate it on a scale? That reminds me of hotornot or something like that. ;)

The beginning starts out nicely, and I like the midsection that has the melodic line in octaves through the bottom range of the piano with a repeated part over it.

The thing that I found out this piece that I want to discuss is the (perhaps) overuse of fast scales, tuplets, arpeggios, etc - it makes much of the piece sound very busy. I'm not even talking about playability here - it sounds like like it's hard when it doesn't have to be.

My favorite moments in the piece are when each line is pared down to the necessities. It's a lot more interesting! If you develop this into a major work, I'd just take some time to review it and see where you can maybe make more using less, if that makes sense. Be creative with your harmonies! See what you can do that's different and cool. Develop it with love and make us love it!

Now my comments are not that of an expert, just my opinions, so take what you can from them. I hope I've been of some assistance. :)

happy writing!
