Minuet for flute and cello

Featured Replies

A minuet for flute and cello in D. I called it The Dancing Soldier because the melody sounds like a march.

Really nice melody as always! I really liked the change of rhythm in section B and the dissonance and resolution of the melody with the underlying chord in measures 14 and 16! My only comment is that in measure 16, if it was a 4-3 suspension-resolution sound you were after, it might sound slightly better if you changed the B-D-B-F-D-F of the bass to a B-F-B-F-D-F in order to not play the third of the B chord chord before the resolution to D in the melody has taken place. I have not tried it so I am not sure, but just something to consider.

Nice piece and I agree that the title seems to suit it really well!

Hi, Jorge. Thank you for your kind comments. I'll have a play at the piano and check out your suggestion. 🙂
