January 23, 201214 yr Is this better? also, I guess this would be a better Fughette. Fugue in C Minor.mid
January 23, 201214 yr Is this better? Well, you started out OK, but before the end of the second entrance you lost your way. Tell you what: for right now, maybe don't worry about whether what you write constitutes a "real" or "proper" fugue. Just play with the subjects and have a good time with them, which seems to be what you're doing anyway and enjoying. You'll learn a lot about composition in general that way. Now, if you really want to learn what a real fugue is and how to write one, you might start by taking a look at my thread "A Crash-Course In Writing Fugues" http://www.youngcomposers.com/t3239/a-crash-course-in-writing-fugues/ in Advice and Techniques.
January 31, 201214 yr This looked like a really interesting challenge, so I gave it a go. I tried using the D Major theme (subject 3). I'd really like some feedback, and advice on what I could improve on (development section is definitely a bit wierd:P) shj3DmajFugue.mid
February 1, 201214 yr You've got the basic gist of it, better than many. I'd say just keep working the subjects and you're bound to improve.
August 19, 201213 yr Good to see this thread is still going after all these years. I'm wondering why my files aren't present anymore, though, hmm. Good to be back.
