Clarinet Sonata, 3rd movement

Featured Replies

Here's the Rondò that concludes the sonata. Thanks for those who to the time to listen and to send kind words on the Andante, I hope to get the forum superhelpful notes on this one too! Also, I'm trying out Sibelius and Noteperformer, tips on how to get best results with that also greatly appreciated...

I listened to the third movement and enjoyed it. It would help to provide links to the first two movements for those, like me, who hadn't listened to them. As we all know a three movement piece's each movement needs to be listened to in the context of the whole piece for it to be fully understood and appreciated. As it is, I had to go look for the previous two movements in your profile. Fortunately I was able to find the 2nd and then the first. So I listened to them and then to this one a second time to put it in context. As I was not able to hear the movements one after the other, perhaps my judgement that each movement seems like a separate piece is not fully justified. But as standalone pieces they are enjoyable pieces. I hope that you can have them performed with real instruments and performers. I think an additional benefit of such a performance  - besides the obvious ones of human interpretation and feeling and actual instrument voices, would be that the performers would create unity between the movements.

@luderart Thank you so much for your kind words! I don't want to overwhelm users/forum by posting too much, but I agree that context is important. So here's all three movements, along with their scores. I'm trying out Noteperformer, which sounds so much better!

I find this movement quite Bachian since the melody is quite chordal for me! And that driving rhythm is great. I love how you borrow the notes from G minor, and how you use that G minor in the middle section. That modulation from G minor to E flat minor in b.92 has great effect! I find this quite shocking since it's the hexatonic pole of G major which shows that you have the modern palette too! I find that your senses of interplay between the instruments really good, and that's the thing I enjoy most! Thank you for sharing this! I enjoy both this movement and the whole sonata!
