Acalanto(Mezzosoprano/Guitar)

I composed this song last year in request of  mezzosoprano Patrizia Iervolino. It's a lullaby with lirics of a the poet friend of mine, Gilberto Pagani(Bill)

I love the modality of this piece (I guess it's sort of Lydian with a few borrowed tones from the minor mode?).  I wish I knew what the poem was about - would you be willing to post the text and translation of the poem here for the benefit of the community?  That would also let the listener know what to listen for in the music and if there is any word painting or not.  Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Perperthepapercomposer! The text is a lullaby that the poet( Bill)  sang to his son. I will post the text in portuguese, soon I'll post the translate in english. 

" Meu filho escuta a cantiga que o vento 

assopra em seus ouvidos e no seu pensamento.

vai namorar as estrelas 

pintadas na tela celeste,

até que o dono do rebanho 

as recolha ou aquiete.

depois querido 

repara na face oculta da lua,

ela é assim pequenina 

que cabe numa poça na rua.

se acaso aquele cometa 

iluminar o seu corpinho, 

diga a ele que o universo 

é cheio de carinho.

Meu filho dorme o sono que se oferece

que sua mãe sorrindo 

também já adormece. "
