Hello,

I'm not sure sure you can do much more. The style, particularly the harmony doesn't allow room for development so it may be best to round this off with a more powerful cadence (not necessarily louder but more defined).

If you want to do more work on the piece, it might be possible to break into the relative major then reform it into an A-B-A piece. A place to splice something in is bar 16 - the piece remains in C minor (pure/aeolian mode) until then with only vague cadences. If you could get into Eflat you could use e.g. a I V VI III sort-of harmonic base.

Alternately, you could improve variety with a cadence here and there, eg at the end of bar 15, maybe the end of bar 5 at the horn trill. A perfectly good cadence could use VII-I (in the natural minor, so VII would be formed: Bflat, D, F).

The modulation to A minor at bars 21/22 makes a nice break but you continue with the same thereafter. So a third choice is a melodic contrast at bar 22 - which might allow you to recap the opening material a few bars later.

Good luck with it.

often times it is best to take your thematic material and extract if from your piece, then start over from scratch. it is possible to "paint oneself into a corner" so to speak, and have nowhere to go. Always best to simply start over when faced with this sort of difficulty.
