Featured Replies

Its been a long time since i wrote something for solo cello, so i did a little movement today. Free form in the key of g minor.

Please tell med what you think.

Hi @Simen-N,

I think the voicing here is quite clear and you definitely learn from Bach's suites. For me this maybe a little bit monotonous without any dynamic markings or slur even though I know you are following a baroque style of composing the piece. It's of course personal, but I think when the form is quite free and there are no details in it to support its drama this can sound random.

For some of the fantasias the modulations will get very far from the tonic key, like those by CPE Bach, but here it seems quite safe to stay within the related keys to be called a fantasia for me. Maybe you can explore more key areas as well!

Will the double stop in b.18-25 difficult? Maybe for the open strings G will be fine, but I'm not sure whether other notes will be hard to produced or not.

Thanks for sharing!
