Visions in the Fields - A Piece for Piano

Featured Replies

Hello! Today I come to the forum with something a bit different than my usual, more large scale entries. A solo piano piece. Somber, certainly not cheery. With a sense of longing. This was made in FL Studio with the (FREE) Spitfire Audio LABS Glass Piano. I have recently been wanting to compose a short piece for piano only...so today I sat down and worked and this is what came out of that session.

I didn't pre-plan the piece and as a matter of fact, was not even at home when I made it to use my keyboard to sort things out. This piece just progressed sort of naturally. Making pieces like this aren't something I do often so I would love some feedback on it! Thanks for the listen and hope you enjoy it! As always, if this piece brings to mind any imagery for you I would love to know what you see when you hear it. I'm a very visual listener, so it's always very cool to hear what other people imagine when listening.

Hi @Layne,

I love the chilling mood of the piece with the repeated note accompaniment. I think the timing is enough for the music even though there is less contrast within it.

I am thinking of an old man who is drinking is cold beer and thinking his old painful memories in a less tragic way. Or a sad waltz given the waltz rhythm!

Thx for sharing!

Henry

although this is much faster and quite diff, this somehow reminds me of Chopin's Raindrop Prelude, op 28 no.5

To me it feels like walking at nighttime through the historic center of a small city surrounded by old medieval buildings while being lost in your inner thoughts

I think it may be too specific, but that is what this piece evoques me

Wow! I love that imagery. Really cool perspective...I wouldn't have though of that, but listening to it and thinking that I can see it so vividly!

Thank you so much, Henry! I always find your interpretations so interesting! That's a very specific visual to bring about, but when I listen, I too can see that old man.
