Andante No.2 in G minor

Featured Replies

Hi all,

It's been a few years since I posted anything but I've been writing music on and off and have finally composed something I am relatively pleased with and I would love to get some feedback. As it has been a while and I am in no way shape of form a professional composer, I do apologise if the score is messy, hopefully I can rectify any messiness in the future 🙂

Thanks for taking the time to listen/read.

-Raphael

I love how the harmony and melody interweave so well. Good job. Especially at the 1:01 mark. The harmony blushes at about the 1:12 - 1:30 second mark.

Hi Raphael,

Nice work on your composition! Like the way it alternates between shades of light and dark.

The score does have a few issues.

Some of your slurs are too long. Remember these represent bow-strokes; not phrasing.

You should indicate whether parts are div. or non-div. so they know when to play double-stops.
Sometimes your note stalks are pointed in the wrong direction, and you often have unnecessary subdivision of notes into tied pairs.
Also some of the enharmonic spelling looks wrong/inconsistent to me. Think most of your G flats should be F sharps.

Thanks for posting,

Alex

Hi,

This is a sweet work ... reminds me of movie scores from the 1930's.  My only observation is the work could be enhanced with some contrary motion.
