Churchcantor Posted Saturday at 01:55 PM Author Posted Saturday at 01:55 PM I could arrange the rest of the Guitar Quartet for piano in a weekend, have me my first Piano Quartet in A Major, and have a much fuller sound, but I'll get to that eventually...this is a very recent piece, this past December and first week of January. Churchcantor Posted Saturday at 04:04 PM Author Posted Saturday at 04:04 PM Well, the STRING quartet was 2009. Quote
Churchcantor Posted Saturday at 04:06 PM Author Posted Saturday at 04:06 PM I would sell the manuscript of the string quartet for some pot and a couple bottles of Sherry! Quote
Churchcantor Posted 5 hours ago Author Posted 5 hours ago I have a kind of personal "program" for the first and second movements, that I came up with long after the quartet was written! The first movement is a conversation between me and Dmitri Shostakovich, with Beethoven and Brahms politely listening, and Antonin Dvorak keeps bursting in the door drunk, whistling his latest theme! The second movement, Courante and Fugue, is even funnier: the Courante sounds to me like the barrel organ is out of tune at the carnival, and the fugue sounds as if Beethoven, whilst sketching out a fugal section in his late quartets, was even drunker than usual...
