Sharing Musicians and Works: Let's Meet New Music!!

I want to know a lot of types of music.

And I imagine many of you feel the same way.

But it's impossible to know every genre of music just by searching on my own.

So, sharing music with people from different backgrounds and interests may help expand our knowledge.

Any genre is welcome (the more diverse, the better!).

Ex: Avant-Garde, Classical, Electronic, Ethnic, Local or Country music, Film Music, Jazz, Pop, Rock... I mean everything!

Please feel free to share musicians and works :)

I forgot to mention Japanese music, as I'm only slightly familiar with it.

In particular, I really think Async by Ryuichi Sakamoto is a great work.

Also, I find some J-Pop songs fascinating.

The vocal styles are quite distinctive to my ears.

So, these are Japanese examples.

I’ll share something a little different.

I’m a big fan of L'Arpeggiata, an ensemble led by Christina Pluhar, in particular their latin jazz inspired interpretations of works by Henry Purcell. For this they collaborated with the brilliant countertenor Phillipe Jaroussky. It’s great, and i love how adaptable they are to reinterpret baroque music in this more contemporary idiom. I’ll link one of my favorites from this album:

Thanks for the recommendations @Lithl! I would like to contribute two of my favorite post-tonal works. The first one is Luigi Dallapiccola’s amazing Quaderno musicale di Annalibera, which is probably one of the best twelve tone works ever composed. Dallapiccola is highly regarded here in Italy and his work deserves more attention.

Then, from the late Pierre Boulez, we have his Sur Incises, a work of extreme delicacy and sensitivity to sound. It’s not serial or twelve tone, while still rigorous in design—it may surprise many to hear that in his later years, Boulez was highly critical of serialism on both artistic and perceptual grounds. This piece is a very sensual and complex exploration or “explosion” of the piano timbre.
