Requiem Aeternam

Featured Replies

Hi everybody.

This is some music I composed for a video game. Hope you like. Questions, comments, or verbal abuse are all welcomed.

'Requiem Aeternam (game theme)' by Alex Lancaster - SoundClick song info

The song has extreme dramatic effect. Good piece. I would label it as more of an action game sequence rather than a requiem though.

I know what you mean. But, there was a choir in there but no one can ever hear it.

It is indeed very nice, although monotonous. Well, I guess I wasn't supposed to be expecting much from a game soundtrack, but yeah, it's nice :P I can't hear the chorus either, maybe you should make it louder, or lower the volume on the rest. Hm... what else? Well, it's just fine for a videogame I guess. I would put it in the menu where you are supposed to make your army/team/general/whatever. Either that, or when the battle began. Imagine warcries behind that "AAARGH!!! CHAAAARGE!" .

I did... :D :D Nice :)

I moved the thread to a more appropriate forum (since it is game music, I thought, why not PUT it with game music).

I'm curious as to whether you called it "requiem aeternam" purely because there was a chorus in it? or because of some other consideration?

Well, it was originally going to be a requiem. The chorus is singing the requiem words.

It certainly was a nice bit of ''delightfull monotony'' . I'd say it's kind of majestic, morbid and, for some reason, necrophilia comes to mind.. (not that it's bad thing! But does it actually have anything to do with the scene you had in mind? :) )

I liked your use of brass, but the solo at the end as an ending was a bit sudden, I think. (Is this meant to loop? Is it a battle theme?) The chorus was actually audible, though very faintly- nowhere near loud enough. You should post an updated mp3 with a louder chorus so that we can hear how you really envisioned this!

Ok! But the chorus on this one sucked so...

The solo was actually a complete accident. Leftover whole notes from a crappy peice i had written before that somehow weasled their way into my peice. :)

you gotta midi? damn finale 06 :(

  • Author

No midi. But you can listen to the Mp3 at the top of the page. :(

I have, but I'd like to have a look at the score, if only to affirm myself of your insanity :(

Hey, the contrabasses are expendable. :(

Wow, nice goth effect! The monotony was interesting due to its sheer use of unison and fifths conveys power.

Well, here's my attempt to create a high-quality MP3 using Airfont, somehow the bass was amped :(:

Requiem Aeternam - eSnips, share anything

And, also a MIDI.
