November 28, 200619 yr Hey guys, would really appreciate some feed back on this piece if any of you have the time! :) I wrote this after a bit of a FFIX session a couple of weeks back, wrote in one sitting in fact. Obviously there is not alot going on in the music as it's meant mostly to be used for the atmosphere, possibly as a character theme, maybe a particularly emotional scene within the game...(Ie James and Rieves this is for you to look at too) only midi i'm afraid, importing into finale or sib will give you the score but slightly messed up. i'm working on a solution! Thanks Sun Stir.mid
November 30, 200619 yr Hey there wringwriter, I just heard you composition and it sounded niced  well done, I was surprised to see 800 bars of music lol. Well, i dont have much to comment on at this stage, but, I'll make sure that I will sort this out with Reives and we'll go from there. Wish you all the best. -James-
November 30, 200619 yr Author hey, no problem James thanks for listening! more on the way soon  Sam ps, i had problems when importing midis recently, it came up with the completely wrong note values. it should be about 82bars long. i think when you import the midi file into finale (or whatever program) do the following things in the import midi file options; "set track to staff list" then auto set to tracks under time sig; "set time sig and do that manually (in this case 3/4) under quantization settings set smallest note value to 128th note(smallest one there) should be ok then! :)
December 1, 200619 yr This's exactly why I don't post comments on other's music so much... Being a "low-level" composer, I am not very good at finding constructive criticism to suggest to a person. Now, to comments--- this sounds very warm, and... just a very beautiful piece, nice and semi-simple, which adds to the beauty. I'm saving this song.
December 4, 200619 yr awwww it feels so warm and sweet listening to it. I like the panning from left - mid - right at the beginning :( the effect in the background create some pretty good atmosphere too... The addition of the notes in the background at 1:23 is really nice, I love it (is it harp?)
December 4, 200619 yr Author Thanks for the lovely comments guys :P yeah Tang, i always like to include a bit of panning here and there to keep things interesting :( It does sound like a harp doesn't it? it's actully just called 'atmosphere' under the synth instruments on my program lol. thanks for the feedback Sam
December 5, 200619 yr hehe I guess it's called 'atmosphere' for a good reason. The running notes there does create a very good atmosphere. I think this piece will fit in a romantic scene of a RPG game...
December 5, 200619 yr Author I think this piece will fit in a romantic scene of a RPG game... haha thanks, that is kind of what I had in mind really!
December 11, 200619 yr Author Hmm can't remember the piece you mentioned from FF6 but having said that I havnt played much of it! Thanks for listening songjun and thanks for the comment, glad you spotted the influence! Since uploading this I've put a melody over the top(my teacher said it needed it) might put it on my soundclick page some time... Thanks again Sam
December 11, 200619 yr Hey good one Sam! I can see this is after some pretty immense FFIX-ing! Its definatly got that atmospheric, and the main melody is quite subdued but you can still hear it there, and I think that just adds to the feel. Good work! Fox
December 11, 200619 yr Author :P glad you could hear Mr Uematsus influence in there Fox, yeah I didnt' want the melody to draw too much attention from what is supposed to be a gentle flowing piece of musique! glad it worked ;) Thanks Sam
December 12, 200619 yr Hey Sam, you should set up a soundclick account. My computer doesn't like myspace for some weird unfathomable reason and it would be really great to hear all your other stuff properly so I can STEAL IT!!! XD Nah, I joke I would merely enjoy it! XD
December 12, 200619 yr Author well, now you mention it I do actually have a soundclick page! It's still relitavely new tho but i'll be putting more stuff on it soon lol, if you were to steal my music I would have to hunt you down and beat you with a particularly stale bagette until you were sorry! Let us hope it never comes down to that :santa: Sam Ps. The link to my soundclick is under the thread 'Lumiere' I think ( in the incidental/soundtrack section) if you are interested ;)
December 12, 200619 yr You should put it in your sig! I will check when I get home from school. And also - NO NOT A STALE BAGUTTE! HAVE MERCY!! Couldn't ya just shoot me? XD
December 18, 200619 yr Hey, that was a really nice piece. I liked it all, but specially the way you coped with the MIDI sound, making your music sound even more beautiful! Congratulations, Pedro
