midi sequencer for a noob

Featured Replies

I am interested in getting into midi sequencing, but I have never done it before, and know very little about the differences between sequencers.

So my question is, does anyone have any recommendations of sequencers suitable for a midi-noob? (I've heard of one - FreeStyle, but don't know what to compare it with) Also, I do plan to take this further than just a hobby - would this affect my choice?

akai ASQ - 10 if u want a hardware midi sequencer

I say you get something like Cakewalk. Not only is it really easy to use, it's completely fine in the professional environment. Check out SONAR at cakewalk.com. Or even "Home studio" is great - and you could always upgrade later if you felt the need to do so.

Sequencing is just one of those things you have to get used to, and you may as well get used to it in an environment like that - once you know one, you pretty much know them all.

EDIT: Oh, and NZ represent! haha.
