New Contemporary piece!! Very cool!

So I just got an idea to write contemporary music since we were playing some in band class. I got to writing some and here it is. It's pretty much the intro and then it starts into the more fast paced section. Tell me what you think and if it makes you want to hear more.

just one spec of something id like to point out is that when the pic. holds that really long not is that i doubt a pic player can hold it that long unless the player can do circular breathing which is really hard. not tryin to beat down on ya just tryin to help out maybe use 2 pic players with notes traded on that note? idk gl man i like it

Yeah I kinda thought to myself when I reviewed what I wrote. I gave that part to the flutes instead since are usually more than one flute players and they can stagger breathe on it. Thanks for the comment.

As earlier said, it's all a learning experience and - well, this is a work and if it's what you want that's all there is to it. It's certainly experimental.

Unforunately the rendering doesn't do you many favours. Finale with the inbuilt gpo is a bit better than midi but you need to add some space - a little reverb maybe, and do a lot more with the dynamics. Many phrases here are effectively solos in the orchestral sense and they have to be given presence (one way or another, like that flute solo) - in this piece I'd say through the dynamics. Likewise, that long clarinet note, start of page 3, could be given a couple of hairpins to vary the intensity.

I can't guess what you were aiming at with the scoring so I can't comment there. So....good as it goes and it'll be interesting to hear more.
