Composing for Wind Ensemble..HELP!!!

Featured Replies

For my senior project, I am composing a song and arranging it for wind ensemble, but all i've ever done before is extemporaneous composition on piano. This is a huge task for me, and I am utilizing Sibelius and a midi keyboard to make it more efficient, but I don't have much arranging knowlege. If you could give me some words of wisdom or point me to a source, book, or person who could help me it would be beneficial-thanks-

Look in a book store for books on theory. They shouldn't be too hard to find. There is a couple books out there on composition and instrumentation, so you can look for those as well.

Look at other members' work; you get an idea of how it sounds the way it does with the given instrumentation.

Exactly what type of wind ensemble are you talking about?
