January 28, 200719 yr yer i did a new thing with a choir. have a look.. i took sections from my other compostions and did a little more with it and there are new sections its not finished tho please comment!!!! new work.mid
January 29, 200719 yr I liked it alot. The middle part reminded me of somewhere over the rainbow. If I could suggest anything it would be dynamics. They are pretty absent in your piece and places in your piece like measure 32 where the soloist drops off is a big one. That or you need to fill the gap it is making. Maybe making the harp/oboe part more apparent? The space before chromatic part is in need of some work Try leaving some other instruments in on a chord leading into it with some dissonace? Slightly disconected. I feel the chromatic section is slightly out of place though I like it very much. I felt like I wanted the opening back. Starting a piece out with similar A, B sections and then throwing in a C that doesnt relate to either of them very easily. If I could suggest I would say holding on to that part for later in the piece and after the B part come back in with A then B again, then maybe C. I do not want to write your piece for you, but these problems from my perspective. When you are writing a piece sometimes just sit back hold a deep breath for about 15 seconds let it out, then play the piece. After listening think what you can improve or anything that stuck out to you, this is what I do. Good Luck, I liked it very much.
January 31, 200719 yr You must forgive me, for at first I thought this was called New York, not new work!!!! I would agree with the meaning of life; it feels slightly disconnected, but nonetheless the different sections are lovely by themselves. Try to develop your ideas out more, and add little "hints" to those same ideas everywhere! Best wishes for your charming future as a composer, *slimy sig* Blenchy
