An Evening with Nico Canzano.

Hello all, after my last song "Prelude" I decided to do another song that will eventually become part of my series "Ten Pieces for the Modern Pianist". They will all be short, jazzy pieces with a difficulty ranging from Beginner-Advanced. When they are all done I will post them.

OK, now on to this piece. It is a Jazz rendition (and in my opinion, witty) of Nico Canzano's personality. It begins with a nice, dainty little introduction (almost full-of-himself, but humble in a sense). Then drearies off into a passage of quartile harmonies and change in meter to represent multi-facitness (sp?).

The song then goes from a transition to a light hearted canon in irregular meter (put in 3/4). it shows that even Nico can be full-hearted and full-heated, he can be, although irregular, a particularly caring person. The theme repeats itself, slower. A, moderato, short passage indicates a change in rhythm as the song repeats to the beginning. Then, after cutting to the coda (yes, finale plays it surprisingly like I wanted it to regarding repeats) it shafts (or shifts, depending on whether word play is fun for you or not) into an angry rant that Nico sometimes gets into when he sees something he doesn't like. But, like most of Nico, his rants are all in good fun as you see the playfulness the piano player could have with this section.

And, as we draw to a close on the piece, a different tune is interrupted by the main theme and the song ends. I like this piece and hope that it will make a great addition to the collection of my modern piano songs. And, as a last note, the pieces in this collection are all playable because I wrote them on paper at the piano before transferring them to computer. Thanks a lot for your time.

In all seriousness, though, I liked it. What else is there to say? Though I don't think we should all get into the habit of writing pieces about each other. Some of us (ahem) have egos that are plenty large enough as it is.

Very little to say... I liked it is all. The main theme was good but I thought the canon semiquaver part (the part with pedal, I think it was) felt out of place. Maybe it was the sudden changes in tempo or just the MIDI. Not really sure. The ending was especially interesting with some very nice harmonies. Well done.

I don't do awkward sex interpretations in music, it is just too hard to find a good way to show it in music! hehe...

In all seriousness, though, I'm glad you liked it. I was hoping you might find this a little more rhythmically entertaining! I just wrote a piece about Nico because somebody else was going too and he didn't, so I did!
