Help on pseudo-classical:piano/oboe duet, piano solos

Featured Replies

Hey, this is my first post of compositions on this site, and it's also my first time composing too! I play jazz piano, but I seem to only be inspired by classical music when I compose, although you'll see that most of the pieces aren't really classical. I have to pick 3 of these to perfect for exams, but I dont know which 3! If anyone can help, and give me advice on making them better (and finishing compositions 4 and 5!) I would be very greatful!

(I'm not sure how the attachment system works on this, so I may not get it exactly right, sorry for annoyance if I messed up)

I could only listen to the first one as I don't have finale 07, I'm still in the dark ages of 06 :)

The one thing I'll say about the one i could hear was i didn't get any memorable theme or melody that i can grab hold of and hear again throughout the piece which would give it some structure and cohesiveness which i felt it was missing.

I'd try and get a workable melody from the ideas you have and develop it through the course of the piece.

What form were you using (if any) ?

Thanks for listening to it, thats true about the melody. Do you think I should put in a melody instrument over the tip or work one into the piano part? I was trying to the sequence Cm, D
