Pizzicato String Passage

The following MIDI file is a passage for pizzicato strings that I am planning to incorporate into a larger scale work (a tone poem). I want to know what everyone thinks of it so I can make any necessary changes. It is an original composition based on the Romantic "pizzicato ostinato" idiom.

It may be genius or utter boringness. Please comment.

I quite like several sections of it, although there was only one time where I felt it was too monotonous. This was right near the end, but other than that I liked it :)

Many of the double stops you've written seem impossible to play- a general rule is larger intervals (6, 7) are easier to play than smaller intervals (5,4,3). And, whenever possible, try to incorporate open strings into double stops.

The so-called "double stops" are not intended to be played that way. In the score they are marked divisi as it is written for a section of strings, not one to a part. Just wanted to clear that up. I am a string player, thus I realize that many of the notes would be, as you stated, impossible to play as double stops.

Thanks for all of your additional comments. I have already written the portion of the piece leading up to this section, so you need not worry about me "sticking it in" somewhere just because I want to use it, lol.

I liked it, rather enjoyable. However the part near the end where the high and low strings exchange notes is a bit excessive, I think it would work but maybe there is too much of it and not enough variation in the notes. It would be fine unchanged maybe better but I think a little variation would be more entertaining and interesting to listen to.

Nice piece. The only problem is the midi rendering - with no reverb it doesn't have 'body'. I liked the syncopated beat that starts around 0.30.

You could make more of the last few moments by interleaving a different chord, or spread of the same chord and accented on each or every other weak beat (to keep the syncopated idea going), or just trim it back a bit. The ending itself is fine, sounds like it ends on the dominant.

Just a thought.........is it possible to have some sort of melody in there, like an oboe or something, that seems to be all it's missing, from my point of view, but that's just my opinion.
