Variation from "Last of the Peaches"

Featured Replies

Hello...

This is one of a set of variations for orchestra - this one for strings only. I'm hoping it'll be used as an interlude in some local theatrical thing so it has to stand alone.

It was written in about 2 weeks (given it already had the theme to vary on) and took a couple of days to get in the sequencer. Originally it was meant to back a scene of two friends having to say goodbye very reluctantly.

If you can afford 3 mins, maybe play it in the background, I'd really appreciate any comments. Would it come off as an interlude while scene-changing?

Thanks in advance.

I haven't posted the score because it's about 1.5Mb in rough -and as the piece is for strings only, it's as it is, no tricks. I'll try to run up a neat score if anyone's interested. I'll try to post theme + all variations when they're complete. One alone gave me enough of a headache I started it again.

This is delightful, M. Charming and relaxing. I'm sure it would work very well as an interlude.

I'd be very interested to see the score if you work it into a presentable state.

Thanks for sharing! :)

Thank you, Mike. As requested the score.

And the link to the music again:

Any discrepancies between the score and the rendition are the fault of the rendition.

:)

If anyone's interested, here's the theme for the variations.

Lasts about 1 1/2 mins - small orchestra, A major, should be easy listening....if you've time to listen.

Thanks.

Wow, nice hand written score! Where do you get your sheet music pages?

Very nice! It works perfectly for what you described. I really enjoyed it a lot. Hopefully, this bit of exposure as an interlude will go a long way for you. For some reason I get the impression of summer time when I listen to the piece :)

I guess its because to me, the piece comes across as impressionistic.

Loverly work!

Beautiful Waltz and notewriting. I liked the relaxed pacing, and romantic melody. I've wanted to write on paper for a while, but don't have the patience yet. I would look forward to hearing the other variations if you post it in the future.

Thank you for those comments.

I've wanted to write on paper for a while, but don't have the patience yet.

Hmm, I've yet to develop the patience to use notation software! And waiting for the computer to fire up if I suddenly have an idea. I can write on paper faster than my mate can do the same stuff on sibelius but there are advantages, of course!
