Cantata dei fantocci - secular requiem

Featured Replies

Hi at all.

I'm new here and this is my first post.

My name is Vincenzo Liguori and I'm from Naples in Italy.

Bottom the links to five pieces of my Cantata dei fantocci - secular requiem for solos, choir, jazz quartet, actor and orchestra I wrote in 1998 using latin text of mass and lyrics by T.S.Eliot, M. Maeterlinck, J. Benda, B. Brecht and mine and overlapping sacred layer to secular layer.

The pieces here are not all the mass but just Kyrie; Dies irae 1; Agnus Dei; Finale; Dies irae 2.

All pieces is in live recording, so sorry me for not high quality of audio and sorry me still for my bad english.

Regards,

Vincenzo

i really liked the finale, and also agnus dei. Really beautiful pieces !!

I really liked the music! The sound itself was hampered by the recording... but there is huge potential behind the music.

Cheers,

Erik

Thanks for your flattering words about my pieces.

Unfotunately, I has not the possibility to record in studio this music, so that I have is just this little demos in live recording often in bad and low quality.

I hope in a future good luck.

Regards,

Vincenzo

I really enjoyed this piece! I loved the way in which the jazz and the italian overlaps. I love the performance too because it is earthy and REAL and the singers are quite excellent (that stunning alto in the kyrie and is it a mezzo soprano in the later movement? both outstanding singers) there is rhythmic drive and confidence and Italianness in every bar! I just wish I could hear the whole piece . . . . . in a church hahahahahaha. its secularness makes it even better . . . . . . . . . thank you so much for posting.

I has received so honest and grateful compliments for this pieces never.

I did not found in my country (Italy) two or three persons interesting to this work and to this music like you in this forum. So I have not a full and high quality recording of my opera. That's all.

Thanks and best regards.

Hello Vincenzo,

i can not believe that almost no one in Italy is interested in your music. Maybe you should try in other european countries like Holland (where i'm from) or in the USA.

I really like your music very much. Not just a little bit. And i did not even hear the whole piece. It is by far the most interesting music i heard on this forum.

Maybe dutch orchestras will be more interested in your music than italian orchestras. Many people in Holland LOVE italy, because of your great food, your Katholic tradition( most people in Holland are also katholic), your music (bocceli, Pausini, etc) , your fashion, the godfather and your history (rome etc) . If something comes from Italy, it is special . ( and i am a big fan of Alex Zanardi , who drives cars very fast).

If i were you i would try to get your music played in Holland or in Germany.

Italy is something special for many people in other countries. Your music is a combination between classical and jazz music and has a strong italian touch. It is a very interesting combination.

If i were you i would give it a try ! If i can help me, just email me.

This is great music. I would love to see a score, though.

Also, I would love to perform this piece. My friends and I have a Jazz Quartet and my school does these kinds of works all of the time.

It's wonderful that you say to me about your pleasure to play my Cantata. It would be fantastic, but I fear that you live very far from Italy and I have not circumstance to program this work in my contry at moment.

The last time I was played this was in the 2000 (many time ago) and never more. (If you have circumstance toy play this, tell me and I will happy to accept it...)

But thanks, thanks, thanks for your offer. You are very gentle.

About the score, it is very large format and it was write with paper and pencil, not with computer, so I'm sorry.

Best regards.

I really like your blending of traditional italian with jazz. I'd love to hear more of this, and maybe perform it.

Its very innovative, and shows that you have a lot of potential.
