Romantic piano piece

Featured Replies

I wrote the start of this about 2 weeks ago, I tried to write further two days ago and it got a little longer, but not much, I have the feeling it's going to be boring if I keep this up. So now it's time for something more turbulent maybe?

Something completely different? Or based on the same thematic material? How?

(It sounds like rubbish because it's midi, but imagine it's played with a lot of passion and love :))

It does tire out after a bit, but this would be a perfect introduction to a more lively and thematically structured section. It's true the MIDI takes so much away, because this would have a nice dramatic touch on something like a Steinway. I'd say try to develop more interesting and independent rhythms and harmonies for the following section. You've got a great start though

I agree entirely with Skowals. What you need is to introduce a held dominant chord about a third of the way through what you've got. At an equivalent to bar 8, I'd add a dimished seventh on C in the right hand, only with a D in the bass, then go to the dominant (G major), before rushing off into your second section.

To me, this sounds a bit like a grave. It either needs a tune over the descending bass, or a completely different second section. I think the second option woulkd be more fun.

I tried to make some changes to make it more interesting, and I wrote further, it's not that much, but as usualy I don't know what to write next... I don't really like the accompaniment beginning at measure 29 (or 1.00 minute), but it's the most convincing I could find, does anybody has an idea for a better left hand?

I also don't like measure 32 (1.07 minutes)... I had to modulate there but it's awfull the way I did it(I wrote the piece beginning from measure 33 without thinking of the previous) Should I just transpose the score from measure 33? Or should I seek a better way to modulate?

Please tell me what you think.

I don't really have much to say, more personal tast than anything I guess. Anyway, I like the beginning its nice and romantic, but the seventh measure or somewhere where it begins the sixteenth notes and rests kind of changes the whole mood I think. Then when it goes to just sixteenth notes, I think is good and makes the peice move more, but maybe develop the beginning part more. I really didn't like the 32nd notes though, just seemed to not fit in. I think it sounds good though, keep working on it.

Thanks

"but maybe develop the beginning part more"

A lot of people told me it was a little boring in the beginning, so I tried to make it more interesting by adding some sixteenth notes. Could you listen to the first one I posted and say what version you like the most? (especially listen to the accompaniment starting in the seventh measure)

I do agree that a new begging to the work would be beneficial. Maybe you could start it with something that is repeated in the bass ,and slowly add your melody. Maybe add parts of your work to it. Good Job for what you have now!

The piece needs more work. You need to make it more interesting.

Best Wishes

I listened to the first one, i think that it is nice, very romantic, but it does get boring. Change the rhythm in the right hand, add more melody. Maybe have the eighth notes in the right hand go throughout the entire measure. I don't know about other people but I like slower pieces.
