Neverending Autumn

This is a song I wrote some time ago. Hope you enjoy it.

It was very reminiscent of the theme from FFX, the last few notes of measure 36 going into 37 is exactly what's in that piece. Sometimes I thought the rhythms, especially the 16th notes, were out of place and were unstable. And then there were some measures with only one beat in them?

Nice and lyrical, but very repetitive. It should have stopped or changed to something different after the first 2 minutes. I enjoyed it, but, after a while it became just background music.

Nielda : That was not what I had in mind. But sometimes that happens. (FFX)

As to the rythm, I don't see your point. And yes, there are some measures with only one beat.

manossg : You're right. When I was listening to it again, I also found it very repetitive.

It's pretty but it is lacking in a theme which would hold the listener's attention. I did recognise some form in it but if the theme is not strong enough then it's hard to find it. A theme does not have to be a melody. It can be a rhythm, an interesting chord progression etc.

Thanks for telling.

I am not right or wrong. Just my opinion. It might not be repetitive to the next listener.

After all it is composed of different sequences of which one returns a few times. That's why it sounds repetitive. The melody is almost the same throughout as well.

When I was listening to it, even before having read your comment, I thought of it as repetitive, which, before, I did not. (Or else I wouldn't have written it this way)

All decent music is composed of sequences in which one returns at times. Else the music is in danger of causing boredom due to musical nonsense. Anyway, thanks for posting.

You're welcome. I have to say that normally my songs aren't composed of returning sequences.

They should be composed of returning sequences. You should vary your sequences enough to produce enough variation, while, at the same time, avoiding boring repetition.

In general there is no repetition at all, and nothing boring.

You misunderstood my words. Boredom can be caused through exact repetition of the same material or through continuous introduction of new material. I was not referring to your music...ahemmm.

  • Author

I was just stating that.

Why do I have the impression that I shall be alerted by that ahemmm... :)
