Your comprehension of the 17th-century style (I assume it's the French style!) is for the most part very convincing, although there are a few moments where I'm left grappling to decide upon the tonality or structure - are they supposed to be slightly neo-classical, or do you intend to make them as historically accurate as possible?

Hi Zetetic! I tried to express some of the splendour around King Louis XIV with this free form piece. In the beginning there is a 4 part choral played by trombones, this is one of my renaissance ideas. I wanted it to sound monumental, churchlike and from another time even earlier than the baroque era. I had fun speaking about tonality when I did the French horn part which ends with a Picardian third. (tonal effect in a minor key where the cadenza ends with the tonic in major). Some ideas are neo, you're right about that. Those themes were put there on purpose. Thanks for your reply Fredrik
