Blue, for Harp and a Viola or two

A little piece with some hacks into the soundfield I'd like to get to eventually. I guess it should be written out for two violas, I don't think the one would be able to double stop all those notes. Probably some issues with the harp too, I guess they could be figured out somehow.

Very beautiful piece! I loved it. Really suited my mood tonight. Two criticisms:

1. I felt that the harp piece could have used a touch variation, rather than just copy-paste. Just a little; nothing too drastic.

2. The ending felt abrupt. Extend it a little; give it a stronger sense of resolution.

That viola part does indeed look impossible, btw. The harp part doesn't look easy, either. I don't play either instrument, though; maybe someone who does could comment?

With the harp I could make it a rake through, whatever the terminology is there, so the fingers can reach.

Hello. I really like your syncopation(sp?) in the harp part. Very nice. It really kept the piece going. I have to agree with jesuswaffle on the harp part. Also, when the Viola repeats that melody with a lot of whole notes, maybe if that melody could be changed a little bit the second time around. Just try to stay away from strict cut and pasting of your music. The listner could get bored really easily. Other than that it is a good piece. Keep up the great work!

But there's one section about half-way through where the harp has a little figure on a repeated E in quavers and semi-quavers - unless you had a break in the left hand, or had the F tuned to a flat to produce the note enharmonically, it's impossible to play it that fast. It would turn out all weird and muffled. If you brought the second note down a couple of tones so that the E could be played by the thumb and the second finger bounced off the second note, then it would be possible. Or if you just diminished the rhythm.

Also, a lot of the quaver runs and jumps don't really fit the harpist's hand. Do you want me to have a close look at it, so the harpist that you give it to doesn't stare at you with wild eyes and then cast himself out of the nearest window?

It would be interesting, if you had the time, but I'm not considering getting this played at all so there's no need for it.

I am interested in writing something for harp alone soon, so maybe I could get some feedback from you on it?

As a violin player, I can say that those double (even triple) stops are playable, though the triple cords would be arpegiatted (sp?)

The viola part is within the range of the violin, so a violin could play it. If that is the case for the viola, I don't know. In doubt, let a violonist play it :D
