What is the best ear-training software?

Featured Replies

Hello,

Just a simple post to get opinions on the highest quality ear-training software available. Does anyone know of some that are effective, advanced enough (with complicated melodic and harmonic dications, 7th, 9th chords, etc, counterpoint) and reasonable priced? I would appreciate any suggestions, especially since we have a lot of music students who must use some of these programs at school. Any that should be avoided?

Thanks

I would first go online. There are plenty of free ear training sites with excellent options (jazz chords, progressions, inversions, etc.) One of my favorites is called Ear Trainer: Good Ear - Online Ear Training Site Hope that helps!

That's a great site. Do you know of any other free online ones? Perhaps ones that can test more for inversions. I also liked the note naming exercises. Any with melodic/harmonic dictation?

Thanks again for this suggestion!

Hey dude,

Please go here :P I answered this question about 8 months ago by posting on my University Music Society Forum. You might find it helpful.
