Battle Theme (Orchestrated)

Featured Replies

Sounds good, except for a couple things. Remember that you can ignore whatever you want :P

1. The piano part rambles too much. I mean, even tho you want confusion in a battle, you don't want someone to mute the sound cause it's too wicked on their ears.

2. The beginning seems too sudden. Maybe add a prelude of timp. solo or something, to build tension?

Overall, sounds good.

I have a few suggestions on percussion to help you out. Take them as you will...

I see what you are trying to do with the percussion and I like the idea, but its not working as is...

To start, the percussion samples are not orchestral, although you can get a nice modern sound with what you have now. IMO that wouldn't go to well with this piece. Another reason is because you kinda went crazy with the snare. Try listening to each section and specify what you believe would fit the mood. I'll give you one example, from :30 to :45 (on the 10% slower version) you have mellowed down the piece greatly, however you keep the snare the same and instead just took it out for a few seconds. If you mixed it up and gave it a new rythm to play that fit the section, it would help it feel less chaotic. Trying doing this for each section of the piece...

Also, I suggest mixing it up and using several different percussion instruments. Just throw something new in for each section and try taking some of the others out at times or give them a lesser role and allow another instrument to take the lead for rythm. Experiment till you find something that you like...

Like I said take this as you will as everyone has different styles in which they do things.

Percussion has never been my strong point. So I do appreciate the suggestions and will look at that. Thank you for the reply.

I took a lot of the suggestions on this and reworked it with the new version placed in the opening of the thread.
