June 19, 200718 yr It sounds actually very possible to play. From the sound of it, I can't hear impossible chords such as intervals of 15, 17 and 19 per hand or crossing voices that overlap the fingers, which nobody use, such as playing the "F" with 5 fingers on ONE note. In my difficulty books I would rate this only 5.5 out of 10. Believe me, I've seen talented composers create MUCH MORE difficult pieces in style, creativity and technical challanges for a virtuoso pianist. It sounds like a piece straight out of a grade 8 book from the RCM in "technique" which is not difficult at all. Even most 9-11 year olds in my area who play the piano can do that. Not to discourage you from playing piano. :wub: Its the composing that defines the difficulty. The time sig is in 4/4 or cut time and the style is only simple chords played over and over again. I suggest you listen to some difficult material, if you want to compose "difficult" pieces. BTW Even some ARCT material isn't that hard with practice, so I would say 99% of all piano pieces are NOT impossible to play with practice, and patience. Except for the 1% who decides you can take the virtuoistic player to the NEXT level and play 64 notes per second (arpeggios, scales with major skips) and I don't mean a glissando because anyone can play all the notes on the piano or keyboard in less than half a second with glisses, then... I don't know, but not a single piece I have encountered had any of those figures. Cadenzas by famous composers such as Chopin are few of the hardest I've seen, but there are more. It just needs practice.
