"If I Knew" Music Theme

Featured Replies

I'm working on a piece which I'm trying to make it sound as a background music theme. Right now I'm stuck. :( That's why it doesn't have an ending at all, 'cause I want to make it longer.

Anyways ...

1. Is it worthy as a game or movie music theme or background music?

2. Should I continue this piece orchestral or can it be electronic as well or both?

3. Anything else I can improve/change?

Thanks in advance ;)

I really like this. Some high quality stuff here.

1. Yes!

2. I think the electronic sounds add a lot to the song. If you took them out it would probably lose a lot.

3. I would add more bass to the song in some parts and turn up the volume a little on the background instruments. Experiment with dynamics more, too.

The swells like at 1:05 to 1:12 kind of cut off suddenly. I would hold the last note longer.

If you keep the song as is, it is still really good and emotional. The changes above, I think, would only establish the song more.

Completely authentic music. I would say it is definately worthy of game music, (I can't place it in film) also the piece could be developed in any of the ways you questioned. If there was anything you could improve or change, I would say keep developing it, there is so much to do with a piece like that.

Thanks guys

I worked a little on it today and this is what I've been able to do.

I'm not really "very happy" with it, but I finally managed to make it longer. :P It's probably gonna undergo another remake.:P

But ... Is it becoming better or ... erm ... worse?

I tried to add a bass to the song, but I didn't like how it turned out. I'll work on that and experiment a little, see if I can make a bass line. :pinch:

It doesn't really need a bass line, I just meant turn up the bass tones. But, if it didn't work, then there is no need for it.

The new version sounds FANTASTIC! :)

feedback:

-If you're going to keep the claps, I would add more percussion around it. They just seem "lonely" right now.

-Later in the song, you have this sound... like a whale moan. I would let it echo more, as if it were underwater. I really like it there though, it was a nice surprise.

-The orchestration sounds great! You did a really nice job with it.

Thank you Guinness and Songjun. :)

- I'm not so good at percussion ... erm ... I suck at percussion, but I'll try it.

- I'll run some reverbs or something like that on the whale moan and see what comes out.

- I wanted to keep this piece really simple with only a few instruments, but it kinda got outta hand and I just made it a orchestral/synthesizer song. It was a little scary though, 'cause it's the first time I tried something orchestral. Guess it didn't turn out to be that bad after all.

I'm curious, how long have you been working on this? Did you use EWQL?

- One whole long mind breaking day for the first part (first one posted).:)

Then I had a weird attack of no idea's what so ever (three days ... I think). And then +/- 3 hours for the new version.

Did I use EWQL?

- No. To be honest I just googled it to have a better idea of what that actually is. :o

I think this is very well done. The electronics fit, but I would like to see you return to just an orchestra and then back.
