johannhowitzer Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 Yes, in afterthought a PM would have been more appropriate. My apologies. I am honored that you adopted that tracklist in full! To get that list, I copied the file-list you emailed me the link to into Notepad, then deleted all the shortest tracks like the piano hit and map theme, and rated the rest we hadn't used by one to three stars. Any one-stars went right away, and most of the two-stars as well. What remained, you have. I chose the tracks based on which were major themes of a map section - after eliminating Marrymore and Booster Tower, I knew I had better keep Moleville. Tadpole Pond's map section had the most stuff, but I couldn't ignore Rose Town, it has too much potential. Track order is based mainly on geography and order in the game, but some things got switched, I think. Still, The Road Is Full ended up going where Land's End is, since the other path theme was near the start. I didn't want them next to each other.
Conqueso Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 FOOKA FOOKA. And possibly Here's Some Weapons. (And thanks for thinking of me) nimbus.mid
Guest Anders Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 That's great! :) Johann, now that i think of it, mixing some smb1 2 and 3 themes together would be better than adding the pipe vault theme as a seperate track. We'll make a medley bonus track. :) I will be doing that bonus track, by the way! :D
Violin555 Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 Are any of you using proper key signatures, or are you slipping in accadentals everywhere. Believe me, it would be less of a strain on the pianist if it had a key signature that didn't require to many accendentals. Also, make sure the chords are in their most compact form, a maximum of 4 notes and nothing beyond on octave. Pianists have their limits you know.
Guest Anders Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 Hmm.. I have no problem playing big octave chords. I agree with you about the key signature though, but since my contribution will be a medley, i'll probably have to use multiple key signatures. (My medley is looking quite good, the underwater theme has been made into a waltz! :P )
Guest Anders Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 by the way underwater theme has been made into a waltz! Duh! :P
Jared Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 Can I claim Hello, Happy Kingdom? I probably won't do too good at it, but I'm gonna try, hopefully I can get something. I'm not much of an arranger, but I'd like to make a try.

Jared Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 Here is what I have so far on Hello, Happy Kingdom! The heavy arrange part has only just begun, so I'll see how I do... I hope it goes good! :P Also, can we add Sad Song? Or replace something with it? I think that is a necessity on a PC of SMRPG. I'd be willing to arrange, or attempt to. Happy_Kingdom.MID
CaltechViolist Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 I'll take "Hard-Working Moles Are Good Moles". Anyone who's been at Caltech (Big Dan, if you're reading this...) should have no trouble figuring out why I want that one. I would prefer to arrange for something other than piano, because even though I play piano, I really dislike solo piano music and think of the piano mainly as a complementary instrument to a chamber ensemble or orchestra (even in piano concertos). That said, Mozart hated the flute, and wrote some of his best music for it, so disliking the piano is not an excuse.
Jared Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Here is a little more in Happy Kingdom. I guess its going alright... :P Happy_Kingdom.MID
Guest Nickthoven Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Here's what I have of The Road is Full of Dangers so far. Expect more in the same vain, nothing too off the wall here. A lot of light, pretty stuff.
Guest Anders Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 *1. Happy Adventure, Delightful Adventure *2. Super Pipe House *3. The Road Is Full Of Dangers *4. Fight Against Monsters ~ Victory!! *5. Guest Nickthoven Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Somewhere in the thread I requested track 20 as well, I guess you missed it. :P And, I can edit all my old posts with no problem, so you have nothing standing in your way from editing the tracklist into your first post!! *being annoying*
Jared Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Got a little more done on Hello, Happy Kingdom! Also, Letehn, can I post this on Squaresound, so I can get some more feedback on it? I'd post it in my Creations thread. About the arrangement... obviously it needs a lot of fine tuning... There isn't anything truly spectacular in it, so I'll try to change it up a bit more. I like it, but it needs some work. And the transitions, like to the waltz for instance, just aren't there. I'm not sure how much longer I should go for here, I like the length now, but its a little short for a Piano Collections track, so I may try to extend it by about a minute or so. As it stands it is around 2:30. Sad Song is gonna be a beast to arrange, I doubt I can do it. WAY too many chromatics, I don't even know what key to put it in. If anyone else wants it, take it. ^^ I'd love to hear an arrangement of it, but I can't do it myself. Happy_Kingdom.MID
CaltechViolist Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 BTW, I need a MP3 of my track. I don't own a SNES, and last played SMRPG about 8 years ago.
Guest Anders Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Also, Letehn, can I post this on Squaresound, so I can get some more feedback on it?I'd post it in my Creations thread.[/b] Johann did it, so why shouldn't you? The tracklist (and no, i still can't edit my old messages, i guess i'll PM chopin and ask him if he could do it ) *1. Happy Adventure, Delightful Adventure *2. Super Pipe House *3. The Road Is Full Of Dangers *4. Fight Against Monsters ~ Victory!! *5. Hello, Happy Kingdom 6. Fight Against A Somewhat Stronger Monster *7. Here's Some Weapons! 8. Grandpa And The Delightful Tadpoles *9. Rose Town *10. Beware The Forest's Mushrooms 11. Sad Song *12. Fight Against Kajidoh ~ Fight Against Kajidoh, Who Likes Transforming 19. Goodbye Geno *20. Happy Parade, Delightful Parade 21. Bonus Track: SMB medley I guess i'll let someone else do the SMB medley, i just listened to Andrew's medley (yeah, i'm dumb) I'm claiming rose town instead! What would y'all say if i created a seperate forum devoted to this project (and possibly more projects in the future)?
Guest Nickthoven Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Nintenboy - Your Happy Kingdom suffers a bit from over-simplicity. It sounds just like the original, as well. I suggest variating the theme more, with accompaniment structures that are faaaar different than the original's, and in different keys and modes and even meters! You have a little variation at the end, with a waltz, but it still sounds just like the original!! It's not variated enough, and it's too simple! Grr! So is this a place for comments to be made on other people's works or what?
Guest Anders Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Keep in mind that it is his first ever piano arrangement! don't expect to much from me either, but i'll do my best...
Guest Nickthoven Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Oh, ok. I guess I'll lighten up a bit. But he knows I love him anyway! :) So here's about a minute more of Danger Road.
Jared Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 Haha don't worry about it Nick, I completely agree with you. And you aren't being hard on me at all, you're offering constructive criticism that is right. ^^ Of what I have though, how does the theme sound on Piano?
Guest Anders Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 Ok then! :) I have to give up rose town, i just can't handle that swing stuff.. Sorry! I'll be trying Fight Against A Somewhat Stronger Monster this time, i think this one suits me better! PS: I'm loving danger road!
