Guest Nickthoven
Swing stuff? Oh yeah I never really listened to Rose Town...you're giving up? Shame on you! Thanks Letehn! By the by, I edited your first post with the Tracklist.
Jared
I added some more to Happy Kingdom, but I'm gonna refine what I added a lil more. I didn't add any new sections or anything, just changed some stuff around to variate a little more. I added a chromatic run on top of a section and it sounds cool yet not at the same time. ^^ Anyway, I gotta work on it a lot more before I post another version, its kinda dirty. Just thought I'd tell how its kinda going. :D Oh, and it sounds much better as a Harpsichord piece... lol

Guest Nickthoven
Nice job, Conqueso!! Really creative! I love the intro, how you played with the rhythm of the original. Good stuff. And of course I have some criticisms! The melody often has helds notes, and you don't make them interesting enough. On an instrument unlike the piano that can hold out a note and even crescendo or express on it, this would not be a problem. But such is not the case. When the melody holds a note, you simply write the duration of the note and let the accompaniment keep going by itself. What I suggest is filling in the empty space there. A lot of the melodies on this soundtrack has held notes in the melodies. I blame it on Shimomura! :P But I think you could certainly add some of that creative flair you had going on in the intro to the middle sections. Great job! johannhowitzer
I agree! Also, wonderful job thus far, Nickthoven! Below is my nearly-finished version of Beware the Forest's Mushrooms. I have yet to edit key velocities and tempo and volume, so take that into consideration. Forest_Maze.MID
Guest Nickthoven
Nice job Johann, of course! We've discussed this, so, no need to litter the thread with my comments! :P Anyway, I've been working so here's my newest version of 'Road Full'. Enjoy! johannhowitzer
UGH. Well, those chords near the beginning are TOO dissonant, they don't really fit the character of what you do for the rest of the piece! Whoa... was that a meter change, later on? I like the rest, but those chords early on were really better the way you had them before! I mean the half-step shifts or whatever in the first bit after the high opening. Guest Anders
Good job everyone! :) I'm have lots of original (well... :P ) ideas, but stupid finale is so hard to figure out, i wish i had sibelius! (hint, hint :D )
Guest Anders
Was just wondering, how is everyone doing with their arrangements? I've got a complete wblock at the moment........

Josh_1
Hi everyone! I've finally arrived here. Thanks, Letehn for signing me on ! I already posted this at Squaresound, but I will also post them here. I have Sad Song already completed, and now I'm working on Goodbye Geno (which I've already completed the introduction and some of the main phrase). I will post sheets on Sad Song later when I fully edit the piece. Sad_Mallow__Arranged_.mid Goodbye_Geno__Arranged_.mid
johannhowitzer
Hm... so far Goodbye Geno sounds almost exactly like the original. Sad Mallow needs something other than the regular old theme in those first three repetitions. It gets old. I like the development, just vary that melody a bit, don't just use the single melody line three times in a row. Hard, I know, for such a short track, but right now the beginning gets tiresome. I've still got some serious wblock and my hard drive exploded (no important data lost though!), but I believe I'll be arranging the Factory next. johannhowitzer
Alright! Here's the first edition of Weapons Factory, 47 measures! I might need to work out some of the low notes in the right hand near the beginning - very muddy. Also, I'm not sure about some of the syncopation in the four measures before the repeated staccato chords. We'll see. What do you think?

Guest Nickthoven
Sounds great, Conqueso. Good job, Johann. Still don't like some of those beginning notes! Here's a bit more of 'The Road is Full', with an addition you might recognize.

johannhowitzer
Haha, thanks! I wasn't thinking Grieg when I wrote it, though BtFM is along those lines in any case! I wanna learn to play that arrangement. It just sounds fun. Nick - yay! The offending non-tonal chords are gone! I noticed you changed a meter around 2:00... sounds like your standard meter, 7/8. Am I right? It works well, though I would say the old meter you had worked just as well there. And WHOA. Man, this arrangement sounded complete without that new section. It really sounds out of place, more like an afterthought. If you're going to arrange them into the same track, don't go from one to the other like that - they end up being two separate tracks strung together. My plan for meshing the two final battle themes (though no longer necessary!) was to migrate back and forth between the themes, even mix them. If you've got one done, don't introduce such conflicting material. Seriously, when I heard the new bit, I had thought it was done. Sorry, that was a bit of a sermon about a simple point... heh! Anyway, great stuff. I still love the grand triplet feel near the end! And should you choose to do Still, The Road Is Full as a separate track, that's a pretty cool opener you got there! Guest Anders
Ok, i have to let someone else take over this project. I've handled it like a moron (especially at ssf). So, any volunteers?
johannhowitzer
I volunteer. Also, whether or not you let me take this over, when it's all done I'm going to be putting up a new request for a new PC, though I won't say which game; look for that shortly after this one's done, all ye arrangers! (<- Shameless ad to get people interested so it won't go belly-up when the time comes!)

johannhowitzer
Alright, thanks! First off: some housekeeping. It's getting too stretched, so to speak, on two forums. Because SSF allows subsequent edits to posts long after they have been made, I would much rather use that forum; plus it's a far more appropriate setting for a video game arrangement album. That said, I am going to post a new topic on SSF so I can maintain a first post with the tracklist for updates. I will post the link here when that's all set up.
