  • Biography
I started composing late in life, in the summer of 2024, without any musical training or theory (not even able to read music). In spite of this, I've been really surprised - and grateful - at what's been coming out of me. It's a constant surprise. You can hear my music and hear about my story on my web-page - https://heartfulhealing.co.uk.music

About Me

Some of my favourite pieces are below.

You can hear all of them on my web page - https://heartfulhealing.co.uk/music - each piece has its own page detailing what I was trying to work on and where I struggled and still need to learn....

I've also started a YouTube channel where I make videos to help more intuitive (less formally trained) composers (it also includes basic score videos for most of my pieces) - https://www.youtube.com/@HeartfulMusic

My favourite so far - from February this year - is a simple piece called Prayer to the Eternal - just a piano, violin and 2 voices -

Closely followed by my first full orchestral work, Symphony of Bees, from November, inspired by a visit to the incredible beehive replica in Kew Gardens.

In January, I wrote my 5th String Quintet (I don't think the first 3 really count - they're very short and basic - more like learning exercises - though I still really like some parts of them).  This was the first one with a real structure, and where I started to have more confidence in terms of structure and development - traditionally a weaker point for me.

And for a bit of fun, after I bought a solo voices library froM VSL in November, I reworked an early but still quite imaginative Beatles song - If I Fell - for a 7-voice choir.  Many people say they can't hear the original tune, though it's sung by the soprano throughout.  i think that's because I reworked the piece so thoroughly and reharmonised it so radically.
