YCC - Rhapsody for Violin and Orchestra
I enjoyed. Thank you. That must have been fun to see performed. Where are you from? I like your stuff.

String Quartet, Mvt. 1
It's nice I like it. I like the variations. The change in keys are surprising but don't jolt me too much. I'm sure you'll find someone who doesn't like it but just check their music out and I bet you'll probably see why. Anyway I look forward to hearing the whole thing.

String Quartet
MichaelFrederick replied to diegourquiaga.musica's topic in Incomplete Works; Writer's Block and SuggestionsHi Diego, I couldn't see the score or listen to the music you tried to post. Why not post them to this website instead of redirecting us to another one? Thanks Mike

String Quartet No. 1
smallercomma, Thank you for taking the time to listen and comment. I have neglected responding to your comments and I apologize. You make a lot of good points. I do think that some of the changes could be made. I posted this quartet in an earlier form and got some good recommendations that I decided to take up. I know there are more developments that I did not choose to explore for now...(the possibility of a fugue at the end of the first movement, the expansion of the slow section in the first movement, etc) I'm just getting started and i hope to someday write the quartets i can be satisfied with.....for now I have turned my work to a symphony. I only have so much time bc of the day job.) I'm trying to create a living doing this work but someone or some organization has to believe in my competence.....? Any ideas how one could make a living? Soon I will learn how this piece will sound with human interpretations and hopefully I'll have a recording to post. I thank you again and wish you well! Mike

$2.75 Cello (Cellar Door)
So my understanding is that Edgar Allen Poe wrote that he considered Cellar Door the most beautiful sounding words in the English language. I used to have a band with that same name. Cheers!

Fugue in D minor
Beautiful. I listened three times to check. Are you sure this wasn't written by Bach? If there are technical adjustments needed be made to the organ parts, i'm sure they can be made. I love fugues. There is artistic expression in yours in my estimation. I say the fugue is a form or idea. If one obeys his or her aesthetic sense, then I say there are no rules one should have to obey so that it may be called a fugue. Well done!

String Quartet in Dm Moderato
I'm glad to hear your input cyberstrings. It certainly doesn't disqualify you from commenting in my estimation, in fact, I'm working on some changes to my quartet now you and others suggested. I know it is an arduous task so I wish you the best. I only ask to know if I'm communicating with one from who I can learn by listening to their music. I'll be happy to hear a piece of yours in the future and in the present I am satisfied that you are interested enough to listen to one of my attempts. Regards

String Quartet in Dm Moderato
It does modulate into a major key. It goes from Dm into into Bb Major with the introduction of the Eb in the middle. There are dynamic changes but the finale recordings don't pronounce those dynamics as much as I'd like. I'm working on a string quartet to master the form. I'm writing from music styles that I like, not aiming for a particular period. I do think you're right to say it needs to have more voice dynamics ( single voice to two voices to three, etc) I'll do some work on that. As a modulation exercise, i wrote this short piece......... A Little Celebration - Free MP3 Stream on IMEEM Music but I must say that my goal is not to jar the listener, it's to modulate with as little discomfort as possible. thanks for the feedback I'd like to hear your music

Short acoustic guitar piece
Hey, I listened to the piece just now and I enjoyed it. Just taking a quick look at it now it looks like it starts in Em and then modulates to Bm which is a nice change and not jarring whatsoever. It follows the order of sharps F# then C#. The mood is quite somber in my estimation and there's nothing wrong with that..... Keep writing, the musical sense is the most important, learning about music should only expand the musical possibilities but your musical-life sense should be the guide through all. Good Luck
