Your transitions are very interesting, I love the way you work with the guitars. The bass could use some work though, I put my bass up really high but I still can't tell if a bass part really exists at all. That could make all the difference in a song like this.

Quick question, isn't it accordion? As such, I play one a little bit, but mine has keys in strange ways and I don't really know how it works. Maybe you could help me identify it?

Not just that much, but, well, MIDI is small for a reason. It's not audio at all, simply a simple code that tells a computer's sound card to play a certain instrument a certain pitch a certain length. The actual sound doesn't come from the file at all. It comes from your computer's internal Instrument bank, which attaches tones to the "score" a midi file will give. For that reason, I can upload a MIDI, and when I listen to it on my computer it will have a completely different sound than it will on yours. MIDI is used because it is incredibly small, virtually universal, and very easy to convert. I use MIDI files because I can write them on Anvil Studio (which I prefer for it's simplicity) before uploading on Sibelius and printing the scores for my bandmates. FL studio, for instance, will really only work on FL studio. I can't convert that file to other mediums without basically rewriting it.

I hear alot of people saying that guitarists don't learn notation because they're lazy. Honestly, that's usually far from the case. Sure, it began as a crutch, but for many musicians it is now possibly the only real way to do it. Truth is that it's much more difficult to find notation online or such than it's ever been to find tablature. I'm not really justifying it, but you have to understand that most guitarists don't learn western notation because they honestly can't see how it'd benefit them. But, I was in a band last year where only the keyboardist and sort of the bassist and drummer (they knew western notation on other instruments, but not on their own) had any real idea of what music really meant. It makes rehearsing very difficult. For instance, if we wanted to start from a certain measure in the song, you would not be able to just say the number because no one knew what number that was. Vocal harmonies were almost impossible unless you talk it note by note, given people didn't know how chords were formed. Guitarists were unable to create solos, needing instead to just play them exactly as the recording had.. It really doesn't have to be western notation, I guess, but everyone needs to learn the same format of music to really understand what the others are doing. Western music tends to promote that pretty well.

I like this one, it's very good, I can easily imagine Henry the Octopus playing this part. Well, not Henry, but some generic octopus. I'll be honest in saying it doesn't have that trademark craziness of yours, but it's still a decent piece. I pretty much always look forward to your newest pieces, and that hasn't changed. So, this is pretty simple. I have a good portion of the song written already. But it's clearly lacking. There's a vocal part. I know, many songs don't need vocals, but for the purpose of this song I am required to have them. Plus I just want them so yeah. So, your comment is incredible, it's honestly alot more than I had expected. But it's confused me slightly, so I'd like to get some things clarified. "that ostinato pattern in the keyboard needs to come in earlier. You've got the right idea, but I feel like the rhythm section coming in before the piano is sort of bass-ackwards, losing the effect." The pattern, which one are you talking about? Is it the same as the piano you mention in the next sentence, or is this a completely different keyboard? If you're talking about the sound at around 28 seconds, that's simply a vocal cue. If that one is what you're talking about, should I completely redo my instruments to include more of an A for the B to respond to? Actually, that's the only one I still don't quite know. I'm really not good at critiquing, but I can at least say I really enjoyed listening to this piece. Can I ask about the title?

So, I'm halfway through this piece, but looking at it I realize I could do alot better. So, is this where I give an analysis of how the song works? Yeah, that sounds right. I'll give me issues, 1 by 1. 1. I'm not hearing a very good tonal blend. I'm not sure if I like the way the sounds work together. What's it called, musical color? Something like that... 2. The band is basically making a name as "chill," and this is supposed to contrast that chill motif in the music a bit. But I think it might be too much. Is their a way to make something both chill, and still give a faster feel and give the drums a job? 3. The style, it sounds like a new group entirely. Since you're thinking a dragon, well, listening to the piece so far, maybe something softer than a sitar? Dulcimers are always nice. As far as the technical aspects go, it's difficult to judge without some sort of sheet music. Do you have anything of the sort?

You've got some awkward chords in their, but mostly it's very good. I liked it alot. Yeah, it has a sort of Uematsu feel to it. And that's not a bad thing. So, I've been listening to it for a while on loop, and I have no idea how many times it's looped. That's a good sign for game music. Did you have a particular idea in mind when writing it? Is it just any battle scene? Or a specific sort of battle. What sort of game did you think of when writing?

In this band, I'm the vocalist ^^ Thank you so much for your review, by the way <3 Yeah, I'm a terrible percussionist, I'm more or less going to let my own drummer decide what to play where, my percussion part is mostly their to give him a couple guidelines. Changing the key signature? I hadn't thought of that ^^ I'll certainly look into it. Are their ways to modify the key signature that have different effects on music?

Wow, this is really nice. I like the stuff going on in the piano. However, I'm not too sure about the other parts. The guitar is more annoying than nice, really, I feel like it almost takes away from the song as apposed to adding to it. Same with the bass part, it could be alot smoother, and a bit louder, I had to really throw my bass up to even find it. But don't get me wrong, it's a really good piece of music there.

I like it. It's very different. It manages to be very different, I'm constantly aware of it, it would not serve as background for me at all, which I think is good. Out of curiosity, do you have sheet music for this one? I'd love to see it.
