July 25, 200718 yr Hi all, this is a short piece I wrote for string orchestra, alto solo and mixed choir. Hope you enjoy it. Regards, Bruno Farewell
July 25, 200718 yr It's GREAT, do you hear me? G R E A T F O R M E ! :) There are some technical bugs, I could mark them if I have the score: - one strange harmony (beetween c minor and Gb Major); - Ending: if I were you, I'd begin and finish in Eb Major. You're begining in Eb Major, and ending in c minor. In my opinion it's tonal piece, that's why it's better to end in tonic harmony. If that little bugs could be fixed and if I have to give 1-5 stars, I'll give you 6 stars. VERY good work for me! :D
July 25, 200718 yr Author Thanks for your comments Bipek. The "strange" harmony (:)) is a E minor (with 7th) chord. Basses make a chromatic movement: C, B (second inversion of E minor), Bb (first inversion of Gb Major). In tonal music it's very common to find several examples of interrupted cadences. In this particular case I wanted to give a more "enigmatic" ending to the music that's why I ended it in C minor instead of Eb Major (the tonality that the listener was expecting). Thanks for listening, Bruno
July 25, 200718 yr Author Ok, so... only 5 of 5 stars, not 6 of 5 :D Great job. LOL :) Have to do better next time to win the 6 stars! :)
July 25, 200718 yr WOW!!! I can totally picture that in Lord of the Rings or something. Get out there man, you'll be runnin with the big dogs before you know it if you keep this up!
July 26, 200718 yr Author Thanks pianoman for listening it. Although sometimes is difficult to find the "big dogs" let's keep trying ;) Cheers, Bruno
July 26, 200718 yr I thought it was quite good. Definetly reminded me of Lord of the Rings though I am not quite sure why. This did sound quite professional though and I could easily imagine this in a movie soundtrack. Nice job, keep up the good work.
July 27, 200718 yr Author Thanks Nirvana, curious that this music reminds you and Pianoman the Lord of The Rings, it would be the last movie I would associate with this music, specially because in this music the instrumentation is very simple (only strings orchestra, alto solo and mixed choir) against the complex instrumentation used in that film. Maybe the alto solo and the choir at the end brings to memory the movie :whistling: regards, Bruno
