'Pauroso' E minor

I wrote the backbone and most of the skeleton of this piece several months ago, but i knew it was always lacking, so i left it. Until a couple of days ago where i decided to try and finish it, and all worked out well. well at least in my opinion it did; it is a very short, strange piece in e minor; focusing on rythem and ambience on the first and latter sections with a more melodic 'core' if you will. I didn't have any plans or ideas when writing this, it was purely 'write down whatever comes into your head.' I knew i wanted to use powerful rythems and unusual melodies (i got that from a week of slipknot :thumbsup:) but on a piano. This was the result. Please review thanks.

Heh, that's kind of cool.

I like the rhythm; it's kind of hard to find interesting rhythmic use of a piano, as far as I've seen.

I think it could use more.. something. Fleshing it out, I guess would be the best way to put it. It think it feels very skeletal at the moment. I think it could benefit from another melodic line, with possibly some subtle harmonies added in (via the use of some softer tones in between an upper melody line in a high register and the aggressive rhythmic bass line... and yes, I know that would make it quite a bit harder for a pianist to play.) Personally, I think a nice mixture of the relatively aggressive sound you have with a fairly tonal legato over the top of it, could make for a really interesting and unique piece.

Now, that's not to say it isn't pretty good as it is. :)

Lots of energy, which is good.

I like the contrast in rythm throughout the piece, keeps it interesting.

I like the buildup to the end, but I think it would be nice if the end was just a bit more final.
