October 12, 200718 yr (viewed the .mus) Okay, I've seen some of your other things, and it's obvious that you have a lot to learn, but you have a lot of potential. Some of your stuff I really liked. But the one thing I have to say about this piece, is what the heck happened? This one is a mess, it seems to consist of completely random notes and intervals, not to mention impractical rhythms and out of range notes every once in a while. What is this? If it is meant only for listening and you have no intention of writing something playable, then fine, that's all good, but there's still no organization and hardly any direction. It's random. I had to go and listen to some of your other works before I dared comment on this one. You asked me if this is bad music. That is subjective, but my opinion screams the affirmative. The other things I've listened were not bad music in my opinion, so what were you trying to accomplish in this piece? Could you possible describe better how you intended to portray home imprisonment? Like I said, other things of yours I've listened to were a joy to listen to, but this one is just plain messed up in my opinion. The only emotion I got from it was confusion and uncertainty, curious and interrogative.
October 12, 200718 yr john cage? lol WOOO! I'd say i've enjoyed the piece, excepted that I listened to a long long pause until i found out that what i was waiting for was just bars of rests. That's one the most interesting and rhythmically complex piece i've seen on this forum. YES, it does contain a lot of high and screaming notes, but I won't consider that out of range. It could be played, just really risky and challenging in an orchestral setting. I disagree with musicman that the piece is random. There is clearly a motif stated at the beginning and it is repeated over and over again in the piece in different colours. The piece is obviously incomplete and I really encourage you to finish it. As for the rhythm, I must say that although it is hard, there are tons of 20/21th cen music with more complex rhythm and I consider that pretty straight forward. Personally the place that I liked most is at bar 34 where the clarinets plays in a notated heterophonic setting. hope that helps! definitely finish it and post it up, remember to clean the score up a bit next time.
October 14, 200718 yr Well, let me say that this was quite enjoyable for me. I love such...'experimental' works and there are some great soundscapes here. I have heard other works and I believe this is the one with the most personality in it. It's music I'd expect from avant-garde pioneers, such as Tuxedomoon or Cindytalk. A suggestion would be to use a smaller ensemble. A piano with some winds and percussion would be perfect for this! Keep writing! Cheers!

They're perfectly possible to play. Furthermore, the disjointed nature of them gives the piece a contrast between the fast motion of the sound and the stagnation of the silence. I believe she's trying to convey a sense of imprisonment through her use of the pedal notes that crop up throughout the work, the high registration throughout, and a limited pitch set. I don't think it's random either. There's a form here - though it's very obscure and kind of convoluted. For comparison, listen to Messiaen's "Turangalilla-Sinfonie" - it's a huge 10-movement piece that seems very meandering in a lot of places - but there's a very strict form.
October 16, 200718 yr Author thank u for your advices angela you are quite understand my music thx for view angela
October 18, 200718 yr I've heard some pretty crazy things composed from established composers before, and this piece fits well with them...overall it's quite...interesting, but...I don't know, I think that is okay for the style. Although I think there a too many rests in some places. Also, it seems to go from extremely fast and crazy to very slow and simple, Is that what you were going for?
