Legend of Vanadia - Forest Theme...

A forest theme I did for the game Legend of Vanadia.

Well, I definitely liked the piece overall. In a way it reminded me of one of the animal themes from Carnival of the Animals. On the other hand, I really think that the stacatto bass-line makes it sound unlike a "forest theme". I'm not sure, but I just think the bass line makes the music perhaps to rhythmic and rigid. (When I think of forest themes I usually think of something a bit more abstract and perhaps not so tightly structured). Don't get me wrong - I think you are on the right track with the violins and flute. I dunno, have you tried to see what it would sound like with say a more legato bassline or even without the bass altogether (or maybe cellos instead)? Have you listened to some of the music from The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion?... it might give you some good examples to go by. By the way, are all your pieces on Soundclick only 30 seconds long? I want to hear more!

Maybe more rhythm on the bass line...but other wise I liked it and that it was truly a "forest" theme.
