Waltz in D minor...

Featured Replies

I too have written a waltz. Even though this is a pretty simple piece I'm quite proud of it  I think it's derivative of something but I'm not sure what. It could probably do with some use of sustain pedal too. Critical comments welcome...

Enjoy!

It's kind of medieval, and kind of haunting too, also quite passionate and aggressive.

Thanks for your comments!!

Haunting and passionate?... wow  Aggressive? Well maybe the middle section is, but perhaps I should have added more dynamics so that there was some softer parts too. Medieval?? Hmmmm, not quite sure what you mean by this, although I do like some medieval music. :)

pretty nice stuff...reminds me a bit of a weird haunted carnival mansion thing. I understand that its a waltz and all..but the accompaniment/harmonies could have changed a bit more frequently..the progression got a bit boring.

I like the melody on this finrod.

Thanks for the comments :)

@benxiwf - yes I am thinking I might change the harmonies too. The initial progression of of Dmin Bb C Dmin is used 4 times. Probably too much for a piece less than 2 mins long. And also I am unsure about the 4 bar sequences without melody before repeating the initial theme... that part seems maybe a bit laborious.

I like the melody on this finrod.

Thanks. But I am assuming you are also saying that the accompaniment needs work. :P

It is passionate, the adornments are good, equally the bigger modulacion at times to the relative one ... in summary me taste

Nah, I didn't mean to imply that. :)

I certainly wouldn't say the accompaniment *needs* work.

It's quite adequate and the harmonies are nice.

very enjoyable!

Could you maybe explain more clearly what you mean by this Neithan?
