Quartet in A ~ First Movement

Featured Replies

This is a movement from my first string quartet. It is complete, however some revisions may be neccesary. I have made several sceches of the third and forth movement, but they are incomlete. I have not started the second.

The quartet I am writing is inspired by the key itself, A major. To me this key is very joyfull, yet somewhat held back. I tried to implement this in my piece.

All tips are welcome!

Here is the Score (I forgot to add my name - it is by Clay Gonzalez 2007)

Overall, this is a wonderful quartet. I can definitely see the influence of the Classical style, but there is also your own spin on it.

There are some things that can be done to make it sound better such as:

-Use the viola's deep register! There's a reason why it has a C string.

-In the small F-minor section, use some chords to bring out further harmony.

It sounds wonderful, and I enjoyed listening to it.
