I like a lot of things that others might sneer at, but I'll be quick to set them in their place at the first sign of that sneer!

I dare anyone.

T.a.T.u. happen to have a number of songs I really REALLY like.

I like Metallica(the old stuff, cliche i know but..), but Enter Sandman it too overplayed, i can't hear that any of that.

I'm not ashamed of anything i like cuz i like it for a reason.

I listen to all kinds of stuff, metal, classical, jazz, rock, electronica...etc i just select what sounds good to me.

I generally don't have a problem liking music. Some of my composer friends think that they need to have perfect taste that no one can find fault with, but I think as a composer, you have the right to not only listen to everything you want, but you should listen to all the music you can, no matter what genre. Then, if anyone gets on you for listening to music they don't like you get to whip out the "I'm a composer card" which generally stops the jeering and sneering.

So I'll just say it. I like Disney Soundtracks.

And even though I'm a huge David Bowie fan, I like Elton John. Yes David Bowie is a more brilliant artist, but sometimes I just want to listen to "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road."

I hate Enter Sandman, but occasionally do like some rock music. Muse have some good songs, and Iron Maiden have some good songs... but I can only take a certain amount at once.

And Queen are pretty musical and enjoyable.

UP THE IRONS!

I'm definitely not ashamed of liking Maiden, being one of 10,000 people singing along to Fear of the Dark was almost certainly one of the most exciting musical moments of my life :D

Hah, this'll be a fun thread. I have to say that I don't really feel embarrassed about liking any music, but I'll contribute here on the grounds that some people may consider that I SHOULD.

First up is one of my absolute favourite soundtracks, and it's from Muppet's Treasure Island. Besides the fact that it's all rousing piratey fare from the best days of Hans Zimmer, it also includes some really really cute songs, also by him. I should mention that I don't actually like the movie, just the music.

Thanks to the wondrous wealth of material that is YouTube, I can share my favourite actual sung songs from the soundtrack. Unfortunately, the actual score bits are not available, which is a pity because they're quite good.

Anyhow, enjoy:

For those of you who'll recognize it, the Boom Shakalaka song was also from this soundtrack, although apparently there isn't a scene from the movie with it on YouTube. Ah well. :)

I like Michael Jackson as well, particularly Thriller. What's interesting is how harmonically colourful a lot of his songs are - many of them throw in elements of funk for extra zest.

I do experience something of a mental block when I listen to him now, though, given the various "extra-curricular activities" he appears likely to have participated in since the bulk of his notable material was recorded.

And Marius, you're a brave man. :P

When I first began to like musical theater, classical and later opera, at first I was embarrassed because it was out of the norm for a young teenage, maybe thirteen or fourteen years old to like that sort of thing. It's still unusual now that I'm sixteen but I've learned to overcome it and though I used to pause my music when others came close, I now proudly listen to the greatest music ever written, (and have been known to play it a little louder than I should in hopes that others might hear it as well)
