Few songs for a game

Featured Replies

So, I'm making the score for a game, and I was hoping that you could give your opinions on the songs.

Caolan is a happy, energetic character who seems to be a little bit of a dunce.

Christophe is a drunk who, is only in a good mood when he's drunk.

So... tell me what I could do better...

Also: In Caolan's theme, the Violins and Cellos are not going to be used. They're just... there. The songs will only be used in midi format. --well... i guess i did eventually use them to double some parts.

Newest one:

In the game, there is a scene when the character named Grey appears in a dream to Christophe. (Grey's Visitation)

And, I changed Caolan's and Christophe's theme a bit. Tell me your opinions. Also, I added the overture, I got some opinions on it already, but different people look at different parts of the forum so.. and for some odd reason (even though i deleted it as an attachtment in the other thread, I can't get it onto this one. hum. the midi of it i mean.)

Caolan's Theme.MUS

Christophe's Theme.MUS

Grey's Visitation.MUS

Both are nice, melodic themes. Caolan seemed appropriate for an energetic character... not so sure the 2nd one sounded like what I expected from a drunk though.

I think the second piece has got the wrong feel to it. It sounds rather bouncy and happy. You say he's in a good mood when drunk so it's fine to have an uplifting melody, but I would recommend two things: 1) Make it a slower melody (in fact, slow it down overall) and 2) try some low blasts on a french horn or trombone every other beat. This gives a piece a somewhat clumsy feel.

The piece itself is good but I don't think it fits the character. Also I'm not sure about the bit at 0:09 where everything else cuts out and you just have the melody, it seems a bit sudden and its very overt.

The first piece (Caolan's) was good, if a little short. Try adding another, slower section onto the end. Keep the feel of the piece but just try to break up the speed of it a bit. I like this one though and it certainly fits the character.

I also think Christophe's theme is really upbeat for a drunkard. I was expecting it to have an upbeat feel, but a darker side as well. As it is now, it sounds like a guy who's just generally happy, not someone with an alcohol addiction.

Updated first post with some stuff. Also, remember this midis repeat themselves in game, (why the cut off sounding endings for some of them! Except for the Overture.. that actually is to end when the scene does...)
