= Piano Sonata, Movement I =

Do you remember my so called "atonal piano piece"?

It's not really atonal, nor is the sonata it will be part of.

Sonata? Yeah. That piece will be the final movement, and I've now finished the first.

I don't know whether it is as good as the previous, and maybe I'll rework some passages... let's see.

Didn't like the ending, now there is no slow ending anymore.. think it ends better now, but let's see...

I find it hard to make commets about a atonal piece if i have no knowledge of the emotional intent of it. Did you have a idea of what you want this piece to tell the listener. As with tonal pieces the intent is often more obvious. With this piece in anyway i can't realy grasp the overall direction of it, so maybe you could tell me whether or not you have an emtional intent/direction for the piece.

it's rather a structural than emotional movement, just look at the motif d-a-g#-h which appears at the beginning and you will see that the whole movement is based on it.

Oke, i think it's not my place to make comments on the music techically. Considering i don't have the knowledge. Yet without making a comment i'm curious. If your only intent is to make a movement based on a motif, then why do you do it? It must have a deeper meanig to you and the whole sonata. It is the final movement. So it concludes something i'd say. Is it just a technical conlusion or does it free, or releave or release? Maybe i'm just ingonarant or unknowing, that possible. So without commenting. Is it just music for the sake of it, or does it say something to you/us/the sonata?

It's just music for the sake of music. Like a Mozart symphony oder a Brahms concerto.

There needn't be a specific message.. it's just music, pure music ;)

Well i surely think a mozart symphony and even more a bramhs concerto isn't just music for the sake of music. It has, at least to me, often a deeper meaning then just to be there as music. It tells us something. What it tells is a matter of interpretation, yet if something touches someone there must be more then just music. Maybe there is no such thing as just music for the sake of it. I'm not trying to defy your music or opinion i'm curious to know how you think about (your) music.

Very well done. There is nice contrast between sections, the exciting parts are very ecstatic and fun to listen to. I think that this piece would be difficult to play well, but you've certainly done a good job here writing it and I look forward to the next movements if there will be any.
