french horn and piano

Featured Replies

New piece.

The finale file took too much space, so I had to download it in two pieces.

It's pretty many contrasts in this piece, even I found out all the melodies after each other in the same evening. I feel that it's complete, even with the contrasts. Tell me if you think it's too much of it.

I'm not sure what it's called in English, but I think it's jester or teaser. That's what I called it, because I can see a jester/teaser who wants to rule the piece or something :pinch:

Tell me what you think

Cool little melodies you got here... I'd like to see more added to them. I don't see why the problem with uploading the .mus... this piece as a whole is rather short.

(from here, I'm talking about the second file)

As a general rule, don't mark fingering for piano parts unless it's a really intricate part you want performed specifically, pianists will write in and use their own fingerings, for everyone's hands are different.

One of the major things I'd have to comment on is your phrasing for the horn... a lot of places you didn't have marked would sound great with slurs. In measures 5-8 of the second file, you could slur 3-and to great effect. Also, beat four in measure 8 there with the triplet sixteenths... I tried that on my horn, it's impossible for me to articulate it clearly in separate tongues, even triple tonguing... you're best bet might be to slur two, tongue one, slur two, tongue one. I would probably slur 2-and in measure 34 as well... At letter E, I would slur every 1-and. For the 32nd notes in measure 55... if you want them tongued, I might put dots over them, otherwise slur them, I found it unclear with no markings at all when I played through it. Measure 63... hmm... nasty. I'm not sure if you should have the slurs over the repeated F's or not.... but slurring that whole phrase is hard, but definitely possible. Measure 65... I really don't like... I could not for the life of me manage to play those triplets in time, it just doesn't seem to fit well.

Hmm.... you play horn, right? Can you play from 82... especially 84 with those 32nds? I can't... dead hard, rather mushy, hard to get any clarity in it... unless you slur most of it, then it's a little better... but beat 3 in measure 84 is just..... ouch.

A lot of stuff in here is very fun to play, just like in your Kall, which I had some fun with. There's just the occasional material that's a little too ..... different or something.
