Sonata c-minor, 2nd movement LARGO

Featured Replies

Piano sonata No.1, c-minor, 2st movement, Largo

Hallo friends, I have just finished the 2nd movement called Largo.

I will be happy if you write some comment to me.

You can also judge the 1st mvement Allegro, which I have posted separately some days ago.

Sounds like a love song.

I enjoyed it.

I suppose it doesn't 'feel' like a largo; maybe an andante, but that's the least.

Thank you Yrogerg!

Yes, you are right, its not a typical Largo-piece, but I just wanted to say it should be played with about 55 quarter notes in one minute. Writing Andante would mean about 80-90 :)

OK.

I often name by character and feeling rather than trying to correspond to the metronome mark. I guess it could be considered weird but then I recall that other composers have done so. Like chopin's 1st and 4th etudes having the same metronome tempo but one marked allegro and the other presto. Number 4 does feel like an impetuous presto though, and 1 is calmer even though they have the same absolute tempo.

Anyway, that's just where I was coming from. Your justification for Largo is fine.

But you are right Yrogerg, calling it largo is confusing, Andante is appropriate.

sorry i havent commented on this earlier, i actually listen to this piece all of the time. very beautiful and filled with passion. good job my friend, i have no advice on this piece, but my advice to you is keep writing. i love your voice!

I think it's a very beautiful piece. It has some real "true" moments in it. The ending seemded a little out of the blue to me. But in all very nice!

Thank you thatguy and gijs for your motivating comments.

The ending of the largo is of course not the ending of the sonata :-)

I just wanted to go back to c-minor to prepare for the 3rd movement I started to write today.
