Nope, one entry per competitor. :O

Sorry for the double post... but I need judges!!

I can judge if you really need me

... I SUPPOSE I could be a reserve judge... if no one else volunteers before it all begins...

LOOK... we have two judges, thx for volunteering, if anybody else wants to be a judge, either of you won't mind being replaced, right (per your request.)?

No, I don't mind being replaced... in fact, it would be GREAT if someone took my place! :D

dont mind being replaced either

well can I sign up?

well can I sign up?

for judge or participant?

Eek, I'm going to join as a participant. I'll see how it works out. I am certainly going to work on it, but I'll only submit it if I really am happy with it. Is that ok?

I'm afraid.:ninja::unsure::blink:

Ok, so when I'm done it(which won't be for a while!!), I can send you a Sibelius score and a .mp3 file, right?

Yeah, we had about 18 people sign up for the January one and only 4 submitted.

Ummm... read the rules:

* The piece must be normal notation, in other words the judge's notation software must be able to play it, please submit in midi format (you may also include a .pdf score for easy to read variations and score notes like dynamics and such.)

* AMENDMENT TO THE ABOVE RULE: If in the case notation is not normal and cannot be played by a composing software (such as in between pitch notes, pitch bends, tongue flutter, String Harmonics (but I think this can be done)), you will be allowed to use it provided: You submit a PDF of the piece, an explanation of ANY non-standard notation techniques employed, and an MP3 of the piece. If this is not followed and you submit the piece and any of the judges cannot play it, we shall notify you and hopefully allow you to change it. In the event this happens after the deadline to submit the pieces, you will STILL be allowed to write the explanation of the devices used and submit an MP3 and PDF, but you will not be allowed to change the piece. That is ONLY if this is caught AFTER the deadline.

* AMENDMENT TO THE ABOVE AMENDMENT: Any problem in providing a PDF and or a MP3 when using non-standard notation will be handled on a case-to-case basis.

So, if you want to submit an MP3, you must present a PDF (of JPEG, GIF etc... something readable by ANYBODY) file, if that is a problem let me know. Now, as the Amendment to the Amendment says, they will be handled on a case by case basis, so it is fixable.

Sorry, I was just confused. I'll have to go figure out how to make a pdf now...

Here are some free, shareware downloads for PDF writers. After installing, you can go to File -> Print in just about ANY program, select the PDF writer, and it will prompt you for a filename and where to save the PDF file. BAM, you have a PDF.

I personally use the first one, have tried the second one, and never tried the third one. Choose any:

Free PDF Converter - do PDF

CutePDF - Create PDF for free, Free PDF Utilities, Edit PDF easily;.

Free PDF Converter - create high-quality PDF from any printable file type

* DO NOT use a piece that is ALREADY WRITTEN (BY YOU OR SOMEBODY ELSE!! GRR)

How about a piece half written in the past we never finished? lol

NO... obviously I cannot stop you from doing so, but I implore you not to. However, if you say you are going to use it then I will HAVE to disqualify you, whether you do so or not.

Thanks for the info on PDF creation, Enigmus. That really helps.

I wouldn't go against the rules willfully. That's why I asked. If I planned on going against the rule I wouldn't have asked. I asked to see if there was allowance for an unfinished work. There isn't, so I will start from scratch. :)

Wonderful! :)

I'll join in.

Is there a minimum or maximum time limit? I mean, you already said, nothing lame like 30 seconds, but should it be at least 5 minutes or something?

I'm in.

Nope, use your OWN judgment.

I'm in.

I'll put you on the list.
