"Freedom" Orchestrasuite

Hi guys,

long time is ago since i presented my last work. Now i'll presenting a new one its called "the train into freedom" shoprt calles "Freedom".

This Suite is about the film "Zug in die Freiheit" wich i composed last year and i bounded the major-themes in that suite.

Very nice... I like the opening. It seems to set the mood of the rest of the piece. The horn and piano mixing near the beginning was very beautiful. The climax was very well placed and fit in with the rising action. The piece is very well written, though there seems to be too much time in the middle of the piece where nothing except few lyrical ideas are going on. The piece is very well orchestrated.

If you had a score, I could target some specific areas.

I don't understand what the role of the piano is... Is it an orchestral color?

Some of the chord progressions 2/3 of the way through seemed abrupt. The climax and trumpet lines seemed very short-lived and like an outburst.

Most of the piece seems to be very quiet... That isn't necessarily good. The piece has its triumphant moments, but most of it is in peace and quiet. If this is a movie score, that would work very well. The piano comes in on and off... I'm not really sure what its purpose is.

The climax near the end is very very majestic, and I liked the ending.

Good orchestration... I couldn't get a sense of real development of the theme though. Quite long. Some really triumphant sections. A lot of quiet sections. Good work.

i must disagree. There is a Main Theme (wich comes often to get my developementstyle kown) and the quietness for concerts is also not an minus for an orchestrawork, why?

There is a lot happening in that piece, lot of modulation etc lots of musical-colors (orchestration). I think what you talking about is more your wish for more triumphant moments ;)

See Beethovens 2n Movement of the fifth Symphony, its mostly very quit with some triumphant moments, and yes original it is filmmusic, but that piece is written for an orchestra.

That was, frankly, absolutely beautiful. Most notably, I really enjoyed the variety without abruptness. The piece, generally, seemed to maintain a lucid softness to it.

I must agree that the theme was a bit indistinguishable, but within it's intended context, I'm confident it'd be clear and supported.

My only real concern is that the latter portion of it had parts that were just a bit nondescript. Over all, though, I find it quite astounding.

Your music has gracefully stolen all my words in broad daylight. There is no otehr way to say it... it's... it's... GAHH! I can't say it!!... :happytears:

Though for the sake of being structured, I will say that there is a bunch of... not-so-important stuff... in the middle. It's all... :happytears:... but it doesn't add up to anything in the piece.

I really like the piece overall. It would help if I had a score to follow to see some of the stuff, but just some general comments.

At 2:35 where it goes minor and tremolo occours in the Basses, maybe crescendo them up until the Violin comes in and decrescendo them out at like 2:48.

The tension building at approx. 8:30 is phenomenal, but it drops off at 8:45. It needs to go somewhere.

The Flute drops out at 9:50. Crescendo them and get the strings to match the volume when they take over where the Flute leaves.

I love the swell at the end.

Overall its really REALLY good. The stuff that I mentioned is just what I would do. Its amazing as is though.

I find this it an interesting piece, a wellexecuted, mild and calm 11 minutes. Very enjoyable.

The velocity is a little low all over, and it does not add to the dynamics.

Haha, well it explodes on occassion, yes i noticed now.... But those glimpses would sound better with better levels in the mix.

Anyway, nice themes and composition. NOw the ending:

You have obviously worked long and hard at the orchestration for this piece which sounds very compelling. I have to admit though that I agree with Maelstrom that its doesnt really seem to develop an obvious theme. I felt it needed a backdrop like a movie to give the music direction. Maybe there is a programme in your head to this piece. Nevertheless I think you could do great things with this sort of music if you can find an interested film producer.
